Mongolian voice typing on Mac and Windows

Duudlaga Flow converts spoken Mongolian into text and inserts it into the active application's text field. The default desktop shortcut is Ctrl+Option on macOS and Ctrl+Alt on Windows. If you changed the shortcut or recording mode, follow the settings displayed in your app.

This is useful for drafting emails, notes and documents. It is a different workflow from sending an assistant into an online meeting or uploading a saved audio recording.

Before your first dictation

Choose your operating system on the download page and check the listed requirements. You need a working microphone and an internet connection. Speech is processed by the service, so this is not an offline-only dictation workflow.

Make your first test in an empty note rather than in a message ready to send. You should be able to inspect the result before publishing or submitting anything. Inserting text and sending a message are separate actions.

Set up dictation on a Mac

1. Install Duudlaga Flow and open it.
2. Allow microphone access when requested.
3. Check macOS Accessibility permission so the app can insert text into other applications. Follow any setup instructions shown by the app.
4. Open a note and place the cursor in its text field.
5. In the default Push to Talk mode, hold Ctrl+Option and speak a short sentence. Release the shortcut and wait for processing to finish.

If a permission change has not taken effect, reopen the app and repeat a short test. Also check whether another application is using the same keyboard shortcut. Testing one change at a time makes it easier to identify what fixed the problem.

Set up dictation on Windows

1. Install the Windows version from the download page.
2. Confirm that the intended microphone is selected and receiving sound.
3. Place the cursor in a simple text editor such as Notepad.
4. In the default Push to Talk mode, hold Ctrl+Alt and speak.
5. Release the shortcut, then check the resulting text, especially names and numbers.

Some protected or administrator-level windows restrict simulated text input. If insertion works in a plain note but not in a particular application, that difference helps narrow down the issue. Do not assume every protected field behaves like an ordinary document editor.

Use a repeatable first test

Try this short Mongolian sentence:

Маргааш өглөө арван цагт төслийн явцаа ярилцъя. Би шинэ хувилбараа бэлтгээд явуулна.

Then test a sentence containing a name and date from your own work. These details are often more informative than a generic demonstration. Confirm where the text appears, whether recording stops when you expect it to, and whether the important details are correct.

Speak in complete thoughts with a brief pause between sentences. Avoid trying to fit unrelated ideas into one continuous stream. You can edit the draft after dictation, just as you would edit something you typed.

Troubleshoot by the symptom

No microphone activity: Check the input device, mute state and system permissions.

Processing stalls or fails: Check the internet connection and try a short recording. Look at the app's actual error rather than repeatedly submitting a long passage.

Text is produced but not inserted: Check the cursor position and, on macOS, Accessibility permission. If the app offers a clipboard fallback, copy the result into the intended field.

The content is inaccurate: Move closer to the microphone, reduce competing speech, and review the important words. The transcription review checklist helps identify errors that change meaning.

Password fields and other protected environments may behave differently. Test your own applications before making dictation part of a regular workflow.
